Health and Safety
Health and safety is given the highest priority by Fugro Aperio management and staff. Site teams undergo extensive training for the range of environments in which they are required to work.
In addition to their in-house training, staff undertake external courses to ensure familiarity and safety levels are maintained in a whole range of engineering environments. Examples include:
- Confined Space Entry - certificated training in establishing and conducting works within confined spaces.
- CCNSG Safety Passport – for work on industrial, power and chemical sites.
- Network Rail Personal Track Safety (PTS) - permits required for work in the vicinity of live railways.
- London Underground Ltd - permits for station and track access.
- First Aid at Work - St John Ambulance 5 day course required under the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
- Highways Traffic Management - site team members are qualified in setting up traffic management for work on highways as required by the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
- Airports - training for airside working.
- Highways - safety inductions and familiarity with the requirements of Highways Agency, local authority and contractors.
Generation and briefing of a meaningful health and safety plan is integral to the management of every project. Performance is monitored monthly and targets are set for improvement.
