Moisture and leak detection

Fugro Aperio have developed a package of non-destructive techniques to detect and map moisture in highways, buildings and earthworks, enabling Clients to better understand the source and pathway of moisture and therefore plan targeted remedial works to prevent water-related damage.

To tackle the challenges of mapping moisture below roads and other paved surfaces we have developed a unique approach using electromagnetic sensors that are capable of detecting variations in electrical conductivity caused by moisture independent of the conductivity contrasts caused by varying structure.

Moisture in buildings and structures can be investigated by thermal imaging, ground penetrating radar and electrical leak detection. For ground investigation, electrical resistivity and conductivity surveys can provide valuable information: typical applications include leak detection in earth dams and levees and mapping subsurface contaminant plumes.
